Understanding the Digital Landscape for Kids
Hello! My name is Judith. I’m a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist dedicated to supporting young families through the perinatal, postpartum, and parenting stages of life. I have a deep passion for helping families navigate birth-related and lifelong trauma. Together with my husband, Alfonso, a seasoned leader in parenting education with over 15 years of experience, we run Nurturing the Nest. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of guiding countless families through the joys and challenges of parenting. We’re thrilled to welcome you to this module, Parenting in a Tech-Savvy World. This is the fourth and final module of our master course, United We Parent: Building a Parenting Framework and Toolbox.
This course takes a structured, lesson-based approach, guiding you through key aspects of building an essential parenting toolbox. Each lesson offers foundational knowledge, actionable strategies, and reflective practices tailored to different age groups. To enhance your learning, you’ll complete carefully designed worksheets that reinforce the material and provide practical, hands-on application. Beyond the core content, each lesson includes additional resources such as bonus instructional videos, curated articles, and downloadable PowerPoint slides—perfect for visual learners and group discussions. This module delivers a supportive, multi-dimensional learning experience designed to foster confident, connected, and compassionate family relationships.
In this first lesson, we will be diving into a topic that feels increasingly relevant and even urgent for parents—understanding the digital world our kids are growing up in.
Technology has revolutionized how we live, work, and play. Gone are the days when the family gathered around the radio to listen to the news or to music. This means that, as parents today, we’re navigating uncharted waters. We have two daughters, one is preteen and the other is following her big sister’s footprints closely behind and they are drawn to platforms like YouTube and Roblox, just like many of your kids might be. Trust us, we get the concerns, the confusion, and even the funny moments—like when our little one recently asked if our dog Nala could be a YouTuber!
